The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has seized a record USD 3.6 billion in bitcoin tied to the 2016 Bitfinex hack, representing the largest financial seizure in history. The DOJ arrested two individuals for allegedly conspiring to launder USD 4.5 billion in stolen cryptocurrency linked to the 2016 hack of crypto exchange Bitfinex. The Bitfinex hack is known to be the largest ever cryptocurrency theft.
