NCA's Red Alert on Russia's Sanctions Evasion

The National Crime Agency (NCA) has issued a Red Alert to the UK financial sector on common techniques suspected to be adopted by Russia to evade sanctions on the export of high-risk goods.

The alert provides information on:

  • Red flag indicators of sanctions evasion for the financial sector; and
  • Firms’ continuing data protection and suspicious activity reporting obligations.

Firms should view the NCA notice to remain attuned to sanctions evasion techniques, and take any appropriate action in complying with their sanctions compliance requirements.
