Companies House Launches New Identity Verification Feature

➡️ The feature allows individuals to voluntarily verify their identity through the GOV.UK One login or an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP).

➡️ The change follows the introduction of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) and is intended to enhance the reliability of information on the ownership and control of UK companies.

➡️ Over 6m individuals will need to verify their identity within 12 months after identity verification becomes a legal requirement later this year.

✅ Firms should review their identity verification procedures within their customer due diligence (CDD) processes, considering the enhanced assurance provided by the new feature.
