The UK Government has published The Myanmar (Sanctions) Regulations 2021 which revoke and replace The Burma (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. The regulations and associated guidance set out best practice for compliance with the prohibitions, enforcement, licensing, and circumstances where the regulations do not apply. UK Financial Institutions should take time to note the guidance and ensure sanctions screening lists and procedures are updated accordingly.
