The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has released its latest mutual evaluation report on New Zealand. While generally positive, the report highlights the need to improve the transparency of beneficial ownership information, strengthen supervision of the banking sector and address the gaps in the AML/CFT Act which impact overall effectiveness. Financial Institutions should take the opportunity to update their Country Risk Assessment for New Zealand based on the latest report, and be prepared for regulatory developments to address the gaps identified.
