ESAs and AMLA Sign MoU for AML/CFT Cooperation

The European Supervisory Authorities (ESA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the European Union’s new Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA).

The ESA includes the European Banking Authority, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, and the European Securities and Markets Authority.

The MOU covers cooperation and information exchange between the 4 institutions.

Key aims of the MOU include:

➡️ Promoting supervisory convergence across the EU’s financial sector;

➡️ Enabling the exchange of necessary information; and

➡️ Fostering cross-sector learning and capacity building in areas of mutual interest.

✅ Firms operating in the EU should review the announcement to ensure their regulatory reporting and information sharing mechanisms align with the renewed focus on inter-authority cooperation.
