PSR Publishes Q1 2026 APP Scams Reimbursement Dashboard

The Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) published its Q1 2026 APP scams reimbursement dashboard.

Key points include:

➡️ Reimbursement rate: 88% of money lost to APP scams (£316m) was reimbursed to victims since the policy began, compared with the 61% reimbursement rate reported by UK Finance for personal accounts in 2024, though the PSR notes direct comparison is not possible due to differences in scope;

➡️ Reimbursement value: Q1 2026 reimbursement value reached £72.6 million, the highest since the policy began, with £249.6 million reimbursed to victims over the past 12 months;

➡️ Claim volumes: Consumers reported 86,500 in-scope claims and 58,400 reimbursable claims closed in Q1 2026 alone; and

➡️ Consumer caution: Around 1,700 claims (2%) were rejected in Q1 2026 due to customers not being sufficiently cautious against a four-quarter average of around 2,200 (3%).

✅ Firms should benchmark their own reimbursement speed and claims-handling consistency against the PSR's published figures and continue monitoring emerging APP fraud typologies as the policy embeds further.
