AMLA Finalises FIU Cooperation and EPPO Reporting Standards

The EU Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) finalised 3 sets of standards focused on cooperation between Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), and reporting to the European Public Prosecutors Office (EPPO).

➡️ Two of the Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) focus on standardising reporting from FIUs and AMLA to the EPPO;

➡️ The third ITS provides common templates for exchanging information between FIUs and simplifying rules on consent; and

➡️ The ITS are now submitted to the European Commission (EC) for adoption, with some requirements taking effect in July 2027 and other more technical rules not applying until July 2028.

Although the ITS don't apply to firms directly, with information sharing and public-private cooperation now central priorities for key organisations across the globe, including the FATF and the Wolfsberg Group, firms should still review the ITS, monitor developments, and consider:

✅ Opportunities to further standardise internal and external reporting processes to save time and escalate material concerns rapidly; and

✅ Pursuing further information-sharing opportunities and industry engagement to strengthen risk management outcomes, in partnership with other firms and law enforcement.
