2023 Annual Scams and Cybercrime Brief Published by Singapore Police

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has published its Annual Scams and Cybercrime Brief for 2023.

Firms can remain aware of key scam and cybercrime-related trends identified during the past year by reading the SPF brief.

Highlights from the report include:

  • The number of scam and cybercrime cases increased by 49.6% to 50,376 in 2023, compared to 33,669 cases in 2022;
  • In 2023, the Anti-Scam Command conducted 24 anti-scam enforcement operations, leading to the investigation of over 9,600 money mules and scammers;
  • The SPF will continue to fight scams through enforcement, engagement and education in 2024, including collaborations with banks and telecommunication platforms; and
  • Regulatory enhancements will allow the SPF to take action against money mules.
