EBA Issues Final Report on AML/CFT College Functioning

Written by Insight & Partnership Team | Oct 27, 2025 11:31:13 AM

The report focuses on assessing their role in strengthening cross-border supervision and information sharing.

Key findings include:

➡️ Information Sharing: AML/CFT colleges remain effective tools for exchanging supervisory information, improving the overall effectiveness of AML/CFT supervision across the EU.

➡️ Risk-Based Approach: Some supervisors have not fully adapted college operations to reflect the level of ML/TF risk, resulting in limited resource allocation to high-risk or strategic colleges.

➡️ Common Approach: Many colleges still lack structured discussions to identify shared ML/TF risks and coordinate joint actions, limiting their collective impact.

✅ Firms should track how the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) applies the EBA’s findings, as evolving supervisory expectations and cross-border coordination impact group-level AML/CFT governance and regulatory engagement.
